2017/3490 - Evaluation of the Trondheim Conferences on Biodiversity

The Norwegian Environment Agency (NEA) invites to participate with a tender in the competition for "Evaluation of the Trondheim Conferences on Biodiversity". The Trondheim Conferences on Biodiversity are a series of international conferences that have since 1993 sought to provide an arena for open dialogue and capacity enhancement among stakeholders on the biodiversity agenda, such as policy makers, managers and scientists, seeking to create a constructive, transparent and scientifically sound basis for addressing key issues under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The Trondheim Conferences are a result of collaboration between the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Norwegian Government. The planning and implementation of the conference is resource intensive for the Norwegian environment institutions, and to be able to make decisions on making these kinds of resource commitments in the future, it is crucial to obtain independent information and assessments of the demonstrable and experienced results, effects and usefulness of the conference. An external evaluative review will provide a core basis for decisions on possible future Trondheim Conference on Biodiversity to be hosted by the Norwegian Government. The review should focus on the last three Trondheim Conferences on Biodiversity (2010, 2013 and 2016) but should not rule out comments or perspectives linked to previous conferences. The end product of the assignment shall be a written report. The written report shall contain the review of the Trondheim Conferences on Biodiversity, covering all agreed aspects, questions and purposes, documenting the work, interviews and discussions that have been undertaken.
