2018/9543 - Nordic CITES-cooperation on e-permitting ("Nordic e-CITES")

The project will define and evaluate the framework for Nordic e-permitting system with the focus on efficient application processing, minimizing the risk of fraudulency and streamline the permit issuing process. The project will be a pre-project for a possible e-permitting system between the Nordic authorities dealing with CITES, both on national and, where applicable, on a regional level in the different countries. The Swiss bilateral e-permitting model will serve as the basis for the project, however also other options can, when appropriate, be considered. Secondary aims/results : CITES is regulating sustainable and legal trade and a wellfunctioning permitting system will contribute to halt the loss of biodiversity and contribute to actieve a paperless society. Furthermore, companies trading in CITES listed species will be able to work more efficient. Lastly, the project will further deepen the already good cooperation between the Nordic CITES authorities.
