NRCWE plans to acquire a high performance Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDS) detector for analysis of inorganic and organic materials, powders, aerosol and dust particles, and particles in biological matrices. The detector is to be equipped on the Apreo 2C LoVac SEM from Thermo Fisher, currently installed at NFA. The detector must allow fast high resolution and robust size and elemental analytical data for identification and quantification of nano- to µm-scale materials and parti-cles in materials, powders, and complex particle mixtures on filters and in organic matrices such as cells and tissue samples over large areas. Intended use include material-specific size and compositional quantifications of dust particles from workplaces (e.g., carbon materials, oxides (including quartz), clays, silicates (including asbestos), ceramics, cement, concrete sam-pled on filters or TEM-grid substrates) and surface analysis of fresh, altered and abraded ma-terials and products. The detector and provided software must allow quantification of e.g., ultrafine and fine parti-cles, and fibers including specific asbestos fibers according to ISO 14966:2019 or better with the aim to quantify fibre types with diameters down to few nm-sizes. The maximum price frame for the EDS detector, including computer, software, delivery, in-stallation, training, and services is up to 1.500.000 DKK excl. VAT.
