International development cooperation is undergoing a potentially paradigmatic and existential crisis. We’re not only witnessing a drastic reduction in aid budgets that may affect hundreds of millions of people around the world, but we are also witnessing a normative crisis as important traditional donors challenge well-established concepts and consensus around global development agendas. While some common ground was achieved at the Financing for Development Summit in Sevilla, the road ahead is highly uncertain. We need to understand the rapidly changing context and conditions for development cooperation and how development cooperation may be re-thought and re-engineered to be effective in a new era for international development. With this initiative we aim to achieve a nuanced understanding of how this unfolds and is perceived by experts and stakeholders in crucial partner countries. The objective is to gather, analyse, and amplify African stakeholder perspectives on the evolving landscape of international development cooperation, with a focus on producing policy-relevant insights and facilitating dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and key institutions. Deliverables: • Mapping of, and engagement with, relevant experts and stakeholders. • Event facilitation and logistics support documentation • Written input to, and summaries from, roundtable discussions. • Final synthesis report with actionable recommendations.
