201865006.028.074 - VWS ET Technical Advisory Services concerning the Pallas-reactor

The current High Flux Reactor (HFR) in Petten, the Netherlands, contributes to the worldwide supply of medical isotopes that form the basic ingredient for radiopharmaceuticals which are used to detect or fight cardiovascular disease and cancer cells. Preparations are currently being made for decision-making by the Dutch Council of Ministers on the construction of a new reactor (the Pallas-reactor) to replace the existing HFR. The construction of the Pallas-reactor will fall under the responsibility of a state-owned enterprise that is to be established. In preparation of this decision-making, independent technical advice needs to be obtained (in phase I), based on which a decision will be made on the possible future role of the Dutch State as the shareholder of the state-owned enterprise and construction financier. In principle, the Dutch Council of Ministers will decide in early 2022 whether the Dutch State will provide the necessary financing. After a potentially positive decision by the Dutch Council of Ministers, the Dutch State, as the financier of the reactor, will monitor construction of the reactor (in phase II). The State wishes to receive support from a technical adviser in this area as well. The initial Contract for Technical Advisory Services will then be continued by means of a possible extension of this Contract for Services. See for further information the Descriptive document.
