DTU Energy intends to buy a high-intensity, high-resolution X-ray diffractometer. The instrument will be used mainly for thin film characterization but must be a multipurpose instrument reconfigurable for e.g. powder diffraction. The diffractometer will be a research facility coupled to our new E-mat facility for preparation of functional materials under inert conditions. The diffractometer must have a vertical goniometer with theta/theta geometry and will be used for characterization of thin inorganic or hybrid films, performing e.g. reciprocal space mapping, rocking curves, reflectivity and detailed angular scans. For advanced in situ measurements, it must be able to perform high-speed mapping of reciprocal space on an un-moving horizontal sample using a 2-D detector. This requires an in-plane arm allowing simultaneous and coupled movement of a 2D detector in the equatorial and vertical plane.
