Trafikverket saknar idag ett tillförlitligt och modernt system för mätning, leverans och analys av friktionsdata. Dagens mätmetoder ger begränsad information både geografiskt och tidsmässigt. Ökad digitalisering och utnyttjande av modern teknik från ett stort antal källor (fordon) vilket ökar tillförlitligheten samt möjliggör kontinuerlig mätning över hela vägnätet.
