X-ray computer tomography (CT) scanner - 9347

[EndedMessage]

The X-ray computer tomography scanner is a tool making it possible to “look inside” the different materials and objects and to create real-time 3D images of their interior. The previous scanner (very old machine) presently installed at KT has been used in a number of applications, involving:

Multiple petroleum-related applications (characterization of the rock samples, study of the processes of oil recovery, etc.)

Diffusion, condensation and evaporation in porous media

Characterization of the natural rock samples

In situ formation of gas hydrates

Diffusion of salt solutions in food products (production of bacon)

Quality of the building concrete and asphalt pavements

Production of wine props

Analysis of polymer ball packings

Samples of wood, to determine their age;

Analysis of the different artifacts (ancient books, dinosaurs eggs, Egyptian and Roman mummies…)

Etc. etc. etc.

The scanner could be used more frequently and involved in more projects, if it would be in a better state not requiring permanent maintenance. Also, it is not easy to operate, since the software is obsolete. With a better tool, there could be a great possibility for future projects and applications.

Our previous long-term experience with Reichl GmbH is that they have outstanding technical skills in maintaining and repairing the X-ray CT scanners. They perform complete maintenance of the device during the full life cycle of the scanner. They react very fast on requests; they have a large base of spare parts, and make urgent reparations without great formal and practical troubles. While other suppliers promise just delivery and installation, Reichl gives 3-month warranty on the supplied equipment. This is extremely important, since most of breakage happens in the initial time period, and after the device is “debugged”, it can work three months without problems. Moreover, a unique proposal of Reichl GmbH is that they may provide remote diagnostics and tests of the scanner systems, which usually eliminates over half of all the troubles.

Our many-years experience of collaboration with Reichl GmbH indicates that the Company is an expert in support, maintenance and eventual reparation of the used X-ray CT scanners. Unlike all other suppliers, Reichl GmbH gives a three-month warranty for the sold scanners. This is important, since it gives an opportunity to “debug” the supplied apparatus and to cure the eventual defects that usually occur in the first months of its use. The Company makes the service and maintenance of the previously supplied scanners and can provide it very fast (in our previous experience, within a few days). It has a “database” of the spare parts. An unique service is the distant diagnostics of the scanner, which helps solving half of the problems without visiting the device.
