The contracting authority is seeking to contract a team of consultants to deliver a study on: “How to engage with the private sector to prevent and significantly reduce marine litter?” The last few years the international community has become increasingly aware of the challenges related to marine litter and ocean pollution. Last year, the Norwegian government established a dedicated programme to assist developing countries to combat marine litter and microplastics. A central part of this programme is to engage with the private sector. The core of this assignment is to provide recommendations to the Norwegian government on how best to engage with the private sector to prevent and significantly reduce marine litter. This includes identifying relevant stakeholders and activities engaging the private sector. “Who” should to “what”? And how can the Norwegian government best organize its work on this. The assignment will also include a mapping exercise of what is already being done, and by whom, to engage the private sector to prevent and significantly reduce marine litter.
