In NordicWay2, Norway has a pilot to investigate whether the roads are ready for automation. We see a potential in road traffic automation, and must understand how the national road authorities can facilitate road traffic automation. The logging of 5000 km with road in relation to communication, positioning etc. indicates that there are conditions that need to be improved. In order to accelerate the development, there is a need for dialogue and interaction between the car manufacturers and the national authorities. Sharing data can be one of the ways to promote automation. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is seeking assistance to conduct a study on how clear car manufacturers are in sharing data with the national road authorities.
