DTU deals with a large number of projects centered on silicone elastomer and soft robotic research. It is therefore desirable to have a 3D printer capable of generating accurate and complex 3D geometries out of silicone resin formulations to increase the department capabilities and assist with future projects. The silicone printer should be able to take a 3D rendering and produce an accurate physical representation by extruding silicone resin into the desired geometry and crosslinking using an attached UV light-source. Thermal cross-linking methods would be a desirable extra feature. The instrument will be placed at room temperature on a regular lab table in the lab with an efficient ventilation, and hence should not require too much lab space.
