QUANTAX FlatQUAD is the high-end 4-channel EDS system for highest demands. It is equipped with a unique annular 4 channel EDS detector allowing high resolution and ultra-fast spectrometry at the same time, with minimal probe current or excitation energy. This outstanding LN2-free annular QUAD detector (XFlash® FlatQUAD) with 4x15 mm2 active area, is ideal for ultra-fast EDS analysis at very high magnification or with highly sensitive samples. It is the detector for precision operations like high spatial resolution spectral mapping. Due to the annu-lar design, where the active areas are placed around a hole for the primary beam, each segment absorbs X-ray quanta from a different azimuth angle, allowing a more complete mapping of rough surfaces and particles. The other unique feature of the annular design is that there is no “fixed” ana-lytical working distance, allowing samples to be measured at nearly any working distance. Further-more, this design allows the active area to get extremely close to the sample surface, giving an ex-tremely high solid angle of up to 1.2 Steradian at about 3mm from the detector. - QUAD SDD detector, 60 mm2 (4 x 15 mm2) active area - Energy resolution ≤127 eV (MnK, 100 000 cps) - Maximum input count rate > 6 million cps - Up to 16 times more solid angle than standard 60mm² SDD detectors - Vibration-free, maintenance-free, Peltier cooled - Special window changer design: allows detection from Boron (5) to Californium (98) Internal window: thickness 1μm allows excitation of ≤ 6 keV Internal + 2μm win: thickness 1+2μm allows excitation of ≤ 12 keV Internal + 6μm win: thickness 1+6μm allows excitation of ≤ 20 keV
