Hovedårsaken til at prosjektet gjennomføres er en sammenkobling av sykkelveinettet i Monolittveien og ned til Skøyen slik at det blir et helhetlig sykkelveinett. Dette skal sikre syklister og gående på en bedre måte i trafikkerte områder.
